“More than just a coffeehouse,Ferndale’s AJ’s Cafe is the nucleous for many of Detroit’s young artists, musicians, and organizers. What lures them in? A repectable vegan menu, free Wi-Fi, and an open and thriving spirit of community. Like the coffeeshop in ‘Friends,’ there’s always something going on at AJ’s; art gallery showings, nightly open-mic opportunities, political forums, wacky fundraisers_ If you’ve got an idea, AJ’s will host it. Our favorite event: The Assembly Line Concerts (check with the Guinness Book of World Records) which broke the record in 2009 for the longest by multi-artists concert (288 hours straight!) The Guinness World Record 13 day, 312  hour non-stop musical concert; “Assembly Line  II; Second Shift” Theme Song Contest and “International Media Welcome Party”

Purpose:  Selection of the “Assembly Line II; Second Shift Concert”  theme song and featured opening act as well as an informational tour for the media.

Tim Downey is the winner of our theme song contest with his song “Working Man”

Gala – black tie event @ AJ’s Café –

Come to the place that makes history! “The Little Cafe that could, DID.” Last year, AJ’s Cafe in Downtown Ferndale set the Guinness world record for musical longevity with the 288 hour non-stop, “Assembly Line Concert”.

The grass-roots concert raised awareness for the hometown team. “IPledgeAmerica” our coinciding awareness campaign gives everyone an opportunity to contribute. It states; “on my honor, the next car that I Buy will be a domestic 3, Detroit-born Ford, General Motors or Chrysler.”

See what we have set in motion as we crown the winner of our theme song contest and get the media updated on all of the latest news regarding our efforts, culminating with our attempt to break our own Guinness record with the “Assembly Line II; Second Shift” concert, March 19-31, 2010.
